My Parents
ah ha.... well this is an interesting topic
Let's start with the easier of the two: Momma Hop
My mother has had to do a lot on her own. My parents divorced when I was 8 years old, and she managed to raise me on a paraprofessional's salary. From an early age my mother told me that no matter what, I would be successful. College was never a doubt, thought she wasn't sure how it would get paid for. As far as my weight, my mother always made me feel beautiful despite my size. She has done her best to give me everything I've wanted and needed. I don't have to write much because anyone that has ever met my mother knows how incredible she is. She's everyone's Momma Hop.
And now the tough one: My father
.... pause....deep breath....
My fondest memories of my dad were just before bedtime. He would sit and play Uno with me, or quiz me on the state capitals. Up until my father re-married, he was still a great dad. He was a very talented man, very smart, but with a quick temper. In the sixth grade I was having big problems with fractions, and I remember how he would lose his patience with me. It was frustrating, but I think that has helped me to be the teacher that I am. Speaking of being a teacher...I distinctly remember being in his truck with him while I was in high school and telling him that I had decided to be a teacher. His words have stuck with me for 14 years now: "If you want to earn a lot of money for doing nothing, become a teacher". It was at that moment that I started to truly lose respect for him.
Senior year in high school is an expensive one. There's the cap and gown, class ring, year book, two proms for me, etc. I asked my dad if he could help out. His response was that he was just keeping his own head above water. The respect level dropped some more. Despite my disappointment, I knew he would still come to see me walk. So, I called my father on Father's Day and invited him to graduation.
He didn't come.
That was the final straw.
For that entire summer, I pretended to not feel well any time he wanted to take me anywhere. Then in September of my freshman year at QU, I was featured in the NH Register. I acknowledged my mother only. He didn't like this, and wanted to know why. I can't remember what my exact words were, but I believe that I attempted to stand up for myself. He offered me a ride home, but I refused, and took the city bus, like I did that entire year.
That was the last conversation I ever had with my father...
He passed away on October 29, 2005. I was absolutely devistated because all along I had thought that we would reconcile. I'd seen him a few times between that last conversation and his death, but I avoided him. The guilt I still feel can be overwhelming, but it is something that I have to deal with that makes me stronger. I know that he watches over me, even though he wasn't always there in life. I know that he was proud of me when I hit 100lbs, and I know that he sees my hard work in school. I just wish things had turned out differently.

A Song That Makes Me Happy
Wow...Do I really have to pick just one song? There are so many that make me happy for so many reasons....So I'm going to break the rules, and list the really special ones!
Smooth by Santana and Rob Thomas - Because it makes Jen and I laugh every time we hear it
Oops, I Did it Again by Britney Spears - Because it sums up my life in the commuter lounge
Drive by Incubus - Because it reminds me of a summer when I thought I had things figured out
Step by Step by NKOTB - Because any New Kids song makes me think of the simple times at Quinnipiac School
The Longest Time by Billy Joel - Because it's "our song". If and when Dan and I get married, this will be what we dance to
and the song that I have always kept for just myself:
Cherish by Madonna - This song makes me think of that very special 8th birthday party where my friends and I went roller skating. It's upbeat, sweet, and fun. And this song is just for me.

The Story Behind My Blog Name
I'll buy anyone a coffee if they can figure out where it came from :) You're on the honor system!
Scroll down to see if you're right!
Blog name came from Seinfeld on DVD. The little notes play like subtitles and give you information and background knowledge about the show. I just figured that blogs are a lot like Seinfeld. Seinfeld was a show about nothing, and blogs are basically our ramblings about nothing, just typed out for our friends to see.
I wonder what Larry David thinks of blogs?....

Doing Something Trendy
I didn't think that I would be one for jumping in and doing the blog thing, but when I saw a friend doing this challenge (and that there was an actual purpose behind the daily posts), I figured hey, why not?
My name is Karrie, and I am a fourth grade teacher. This is my seventh year as a teacher, but I have worked in the school system since I was 15. I am 110% devoted to my job, and my children are some of the most important people in my life.
I am also a girlfriend :) My guy and I will be celebrating six years together in one week. It hasn't been the easiest road for us, but we have worked through a lot, and will continue to as the years come and go.
Recent picture is next. I'll of course include my maid of honor shot :) I love this one.
Fifteen interesting facts about me? Ok, here we go:
15 - I have never moved. I am still living in the very same house I grew up in.
14 - I am an only child, but not a brat. I am grateful for everything I've ever been given.
13 - I do not like spiders or snakes, but I'm not scared of them.
12 - My favorite color is purple.
11 - I am a total mallrat.
10 - I don't really drink, never smoke.
9 - I am extremely flexible.
8 - I am pretty good at Dance Dance Revolution
7 - My highest weight was 259 pounds. I have lost 100 of them.
6 - I miss my father terribly.
5 - I am currently friends with most of my ex boyfriends.
4 - I love animals. I wish I could live on a farm.
3 - I am the pickiest eater you will ever meet. Fish are friends, not food.
2 - I go to the gym to escape from stress.
1 - Whatever happens, I always give people a second chance.
